About Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoan

Associate Professor, Senior Doctor Nguyen Thi Hoan has extensive experience in the Pediatric specialty and is a specialist in Pediatric Endocrinology in Vietnam.
In 2011, Dr. Hoan was awarded the title of “Senior Doctor.”
She is one of the pioneers in Vietnam to initiate the newborn screening program for congenital hypothyroidism and G6PD deficiency.
Dr. Hoan is also among the first in Vietnam to work on high-risk screening for inborn errors of metabolism.
She was conferred the title of Associate Professor in 2007.
To achieve her accomplishments, she pursued specialized Pediatric courses both domestically and in Sweden.
Dr. Hoan has contributed nearly 100 articles, scientific reports, and books published in domestic and international journals.
Her research has also been presented at Asia-Pacific regional conferences.

Neonatal screening for early detection and intervention of congenital hypothyroidism and G6PD enzyme deficiency, in order to contribute to improve population quality’ from 2004 to 2006. She is one of the first Vietnamese people who works on the neonatal screening program with congenital hypothyroidism and G6DP deficiency, which is included in national key program and implemented on 51/63 cities and provinces in the country across the country by the Directorate of Population – Ministry of Health.
‘Screening for the high risk of congenital metabolic disorder in Vietnam’ for the first time at the National Children Hospital, cooperated with Shimane-Japan Academy to detect rare diseases and save lives if any early diagnosis and timely intervention from 2005 to 2015. Currently, the program has been widely implemented in major cities across the country.
