Dr. Roy completed his MBBS from the University of Calcutta in the year 1986. After completing his MBBS, he completed FRCS in Trauma & Orthopedic Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (RCPS) Glasgow in the year 1989.

His area of interest includes primary and revision joint replacement surgery including replacement of the shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, and shoulder. He also has a flair for the diagnosis and management of various diseases that, in most cases, does not require surgical intervention. These diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, senile osteoporosis, and post-menopausal osteoporosis. He holds the post of President of West Bengal Arthroplasty Society, Executive committee of Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and Vice President of Indian Arthroplasty Association. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society, West Bengal Orthopedic Association, and Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
