Dr. Azmi Hamzaoglu

Qualification and Experience

Azmi Hamzaoğlu, regarded as one of the world's top spine surgeons, began his specialty in the orthopedics and traumatology department of Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1979 after earning his degree. After becoming a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology in 1983, he was promoted to associate professor in 1989 and 1996. He has over 36 years of experience.

Until 2004, he was employed with the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He spent two years working at the US Minnesota Spine Surgery Center, which is regarded as the top spine surgery facility in the world. He traveled to Japan in 1991 to pursue his education at the University of Hokkaido in the specialty of spine surgery.

After 2003, Turkey's first spine surgery center was established by the orthopedic clinic and Florence Nightingale Hospital. Dr.Azmi Hamzaoğlu, the chief of the orthopedics and traumatology department at Florence Nightingale Hospital, founded the "Istanbul Scoliosis and Spine Center" and oversees a staff of forty employees. He has also conducted training operations in certain challenging situations overseas.
