Qualification and Experience

Qays Fadhil Shimal Basshaga is a renowned Head of Department of Neurosurgery and a Specialist Neurosurgeon in NMC Specialty Hospital, UAE. He has 25+ years of medical experience and he specialises in the field of neuroscience. He completed his MBChB from Al Kufa College of Medicine in Iraq, then he operated as a House Officer undertaking the internship after graduating from the Medical College in Baghdad Health District Hospitals in Iraq. He is also a fellow of the Iraqi Committee of Medical Specialization in Neurosurgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) as well.

Dr. Basshaga started his professional career as a General Practitioner in the obligatory military service, then worked as a Senior House Officer and Registrar in Neurosurgery at the Neurosurgical Hospital and Al Jerahat Surgical Specialty Hospital, Iraq. He has also worked as a Specialist Neurosurgeon there and he was involved in the supervision of the Neurosurgical Resident Training Program and teaching in the Medical College of Baghdad University too. He is an eminent part of numerous professional organizations and memberships like the Iraqi Neuroscience Committee, the Iraqi Medical Association and the A.O. Spine Middle East. He has some publications including “A Comparative Study of MRI Diagnosis of Brain Lesion vs Computerized Tomography to his name. He has attended multiple training courses and conferences including A.O Spine Comprehensive Spine Course in Dubai, a training course on Neuronavigation, Brain Lab in Munich, Germany and a Neurosurgical Pan Arab Society Meeting in Amman, Jordan amongst others. He is one of the best neurologists in the United Arab Emirates.
