Dr. Professor Hemant Kocher

• Professor Hemant Kocher is Professor of Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London.
• He also works as a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals.
• His clinical interests include treating diseases of the gall bladder, bile duct, liver, and pancreas.
• He performs complex major surgeries for liver and pancreatic conditions, as well as general and laparoscopic operations including hernia surgery.
• He leads a large multidisciplinary research programme at the Barts Cancer Institute, focusing on liver and pancreas diseases.
• He trains the next generation of clinicians and scientists in cellular and molecular biology approaches.
• He is Director of the Cancer Tissue Bank, Barts Pancreas Tissue Bank, and the world’s first national pancreas tissue bank.
• He serves on the board of several national and international organisations and charitable institutions.
• He has received many prestigious awards including the Pancreatic Society Travelling Fellow, NIHR Clinician Scientist, Cutler’s Fellow, GSK Young Fellow, and the Agostino Trappani International Prize.
