Professor Hemant Kocher is Professor of Liver and Pancreas Surgery at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London.
He also works as a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals.
His clinical interests include treating diseases of the gall bladder, bile duct, liver, and pancreas.
He performs complex major surgeries for liver and pancreatic conditions, as well as general and laparoscopic operations including hernia surgery.
He leads a large multidisciplinary research programme at the Barts Cancer Institute, focusing on liver and pancreas diseases.
He trains the next generation of clinicians and scientists in cellular and molecular biology approaches.
He is Director of the Cancer Tissue Bank, Barts Pancreas Tissue Bank, and the world’s first national pancreas tissue bank.
He serves on the board of several national and international organisations and charitable institutions.
He has received many prestigious awards including the Pancreatic Society Travelling Fellow, NIHR Clinician Scientist, Cutler’s Fellow, GSK Young Fellow, and the Agostino Trappani International Prize.
