Dr. Umit Koc

Qualification and Experience

Dr. Umit Koc is a renowned general surgeon working with  Istinye University Bahcesehir Liv Hospital. He attended Augsburg and Mersin Gazipasa Primary School in Turkey for his primary school. He completed his secondary and high school education at Mersin Tevfik Srr Gur High School before attending the Ukurova Faculty of Medicine and becoming a medical doctor from 1993 to 1999. Between 2000 and 2005, he completed his General Surgery Specialization at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital and became a General Surgery Specialist after completing his obligatory service in Mardin Midyat Health Center No. 3. He obtained his Gastroenterology Surgery Specialist diploma after finishing his compulsory service and military service at Ankara Yuksek Training and Research Hospital Gastroenterology Surgery Clinic between 2008 and 2010. Later, he began working in Antalya Training and Research Hospital as a Gastroenterology Surgery expert.

In 2016, he was promoted to Associate Professor. As part of the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery certification program, he performed Robotic Tumor Surgery in more than 100 Antalya Training and Research Hospitals in 2016. He joined the team of Istinye University Bahçeşehir Liv Hospital in 2019 after completing numerous tumor surgeries and bariatric surgery at Antalya Training and Research Hospital between 2010 and 2018. Since 2021, he has been employed at Memorial Sisli Hospital.

He specializes in gastric bypass surgery, gastroenterology, and obesity. Elaborating his expertise a bit more, the areas of specializations include Obesity and Metabolic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Gastrointestinal Tumor Surgery. Before performing a surgical procedure, Dr. Umit Koc thoroughly researches and evaluates the patient's sickness, personal medical history, and other underlying diseases.
