Qualification and Experience

Dr. Aws Khidir Jassim has more than 18 years of experience as a consultant general surgeon in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric (obesity) surgery. He passed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the renowned University of Baghdad- College of Medicine. Soon after that, he became a part of the Arab Board of General Surgery.

Contribution to Medical Science

Dr. Aws Khidir Jassim has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery (Lap Chole and Lap Appendectomy), advanced laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for morbid obesity, laparoscopic splenectomy, laparoscopic adrenalectomy, laparoscopic mesh rectopexy for complete rectal prolapse, and general gastrointestinal, endocrine, breast, and thyroid surgery. He started working with one of the most reputed teaching Hospitals in Iraq known as the Medical City, Baghdad. Apart from this, Dr. Aws Khidir Jassim has also been associated with many private hospitals such as Dijlah Private Hospital. In 2005 he served as a Specialist in General Surgery at Baghdad Teaching Hospital. In 2010 Dr. Aws Khidir Jassim began conducting sleeve gastrectomy procedure in morbidly obese patients with an excellent outcome. Till date, he has conducted such surgeries on more than 100 patients.
