1. Apply Online

Chinese citizens travelling to Thailand for medical treatment may apply for a Thai visa category appropriate to the treatment duration and their nationality.

Citizens of China may enter Thailand under applicable visa exemption arrangements for eligible short-term visits. However, for extended treatment, specialised procedures, or long-duration medical care, applicants may be required to apply for a Thailand Medical Visa (Non-Immigrant O – Medical Treatment or Medical Treatment Visa).

Applicants should complete the visa application through the official Thai e-Visa portal:

Applicants must select the appropriate visa category related to medical treatment and accurately provide all passport, travel, and treatment-related information.

2. Gather and Upload Documents

  • Applicants must prepare and upload all required supporting documents, including medical reports, diagnosis details, a treatment appointment or hospital invitation letter from Thailand, proof of financial capability, passport copies, and travel details.
  • Ensure all documents are complete, valid, and up to date to avoid delays in visa processing.

3. Submit Application & Pay

  • Submit the completed visa application online and pay the applicable visa processing fee.
  • Applicants may also be required to attend an appointment at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate or authorised visa centre responsible for China for biometric verification or additional document verification, if requested.

4. Final Step

  • Visa processing generally takes 5–15 working days, depending on the embassy's review process and the completeness of the documentation. Applicants are advised to apply at least 15 working days before travel.
  • Once approved, travellers should carry all original medical and travel documents while entering Thailand and during hospital admission procedures.
  • From May 2025 onwards, all foreign travellers entering Thailand must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival.

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen or legal resident of China
  • Have a confirmed treatment appointment or invitation from a recognised Thai hospital or medical facility
  • Provide valid medical documentation supporting the treatment requirement
  • Demonstrate sufficient financial means to cover treatment, travel, and accommodation expenses
  • Hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended travel date
  • Provide proof of onward/return travel if requested by immigration authorities
  • Eligible Chinese travellers may enter Thailand under applicable visa exemption arrangements for short-term visits, subject to Thai immigration regulations.
  • Medical visas are generally issued for stays of up to 90 days, depending on the treatment duration and embassy approval.
  • The visa may be issued as a single-entry or multiple-entry visa, depending on the approved treatment plan.
  • Extensions may be possible within Thailand for ongoing medical treatment, subject to immigration approval and supporting hospital documentation.
