Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre has introduced the advanced Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Therapy program, which includes a range of revolutionary mechanical methods and approved cardiac care procedures. The accredited hospital, which was founded in 2002 is located in Durban of South Africa and has 353 beds in order to deliver services to both local and international clients.

IABP therapy is a provisional support technology for the heart that helps it pump blood effectively. The method includes the introduction of a catheter with a balloon at the end into the aorta, which works in synchronisation with the heartbeat of the recipient. In the process of providing treatment, the cardiac team continuously monitors cardiac performance, blood pressure, and the patient's overall condition.
