Professor Carlo Pappone is a Cardiologist, Arrhythmologist, and Electrophysiologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
He is the Head of the Clinical Arrhythmology Unit and Electrophysiology Laboratory at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan, Italy.
He also practises as a Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Casa di Cura La Madonnina and serves as a Full Professor of Cardiology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
He has extensive experience in electrophysiology procedures, particularly catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardias, and Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome in adults and children.
His clinical and research interests include the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias, Brugada syndrome, and the prevention of sudden cardiac death.
He has developed an epicardial ablation approach to treat selected patients with Brugada syndrome by targeting abnormal electrical activity associated with dangerous heart rhythms.
His research focuses on new treatment strategies for atrial fibrillation, WPW syndrome, inherited arrhythmias, and arrhythmogenic heart diseases.
He has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters and has contributed to research in clinical electrophysiology and cardiac arrhythmia management.
He received the Elite Reviewer Award from the editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) in 2006.
