An endometrial polyp is a localised overgrowth of the uterine lining that projects into the uterine cavity. These growths are usually benign but may cause abnormal menstrual bleeding, spotting between periods, heavy periods, or difficulty conceiving. Some women may not experience any symptoms, and the condition is often detected during a routine gynaecological evaluation. If left untreated, larger or multiple polyps can affect fertility and, in rare cases, may contain abnormal cells.
