Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) is an eye condition that occurs when one of the smaller branches of the retinal vein becomes blocked, leading to impaired blood drainage from a part of the retina. This blockage can cause retinal bleeding, swelling (especially in the macula), and reduced oxygen supply to retinal tissues. BRVO is commonly associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, and cardiovascular risk factors. Patients may experience sudden or gradual blurred vision, distorted vision, or partial vision loss in one eye, depending on the affected area of the retina. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent long-term vision complications.
