Qualification and Experience

Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh is an Indian Hematology, Oncology & Organ Transplant expert, currently practicing at Artemis Hospital in Gururgram. In 2007, Dr. Pawan completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine at King George's Medical College. He became interested in haematology throughout his MD programme and has since been involved in the management of a variety of hemato-oncology situations. He worked as a senior registrar in the haematology department at CMC, Vellore for three years, from July 2010 to July 2011, and had the honour of working alongside Dr. Mammen Chandy, the father of Indian haematology. He received his DM in Clinical Hematology from the AIIMS in New Delhi (India's top medical school). Dr. Singh has worked at two of the premier haematology training facilities in the world (AIIMS in New Delhi and CMC in Vellore). Dr. Pawan has also worked in a haematology lab for two years and is capable of seeing and reporting on peripheral blood smears and bone marrow on his own. He is skilled in operations such as bone marrow aspiration, PICC line insertion, Hickman line insertion, and lumbar punctures in both children and adults. Bone marrow transplants have been performed on children as young as one month old.

Dr. Singh successfully performed Haplo BMT for SCID in an 8-month-old infant. He has performed over 700 bone marrow transplants (autologous/allogeneic-MSD/Haplo/MUD) for both malignant and non-malignant blood diseases such as thalassemia and aplastic anaemia. BMT and management of adult and paediatric patients are both qualifications. Running the BMT programme at Artemis Hospital and doing 8-10 transplants each month with great success. At Artemis Hospital, 200 BMTs have been performed in the last two years. Artemis BMT unit has been designated as a Center of Excellence for Autologous BMT in Autoimmune disorders, particularly Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Pawan is a member of the ISHBT and EHA, as well as a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. In September of 2021, he published a book of MCQs in haematology (3rd edition). He has a long list of publications in national and international journals, and he presented three papers at the EHA Annual Meeting in Vienna in 2015. At Artemis Hospital and ILBS in New Delhi, he is a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI in clinical trials. Dr. Pawan is a member of the Indian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (ISHBT) and the European Hematology Association (EHA).
